Privacy Policy

MusicalMap ("this site", themusicalmap.com) is a personally-operated interactive map of musicals playing worldwide. This policy explains what data we collect, and how it is used and stored. Contact: contact@themusicalmap.com.
1. Browsing the map (no sign-in)
Simply browsing the map requires no account. This site is a static website hosted on Cloudflare Pages; we place no advertising trackers. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics (cookie-free) and Google Analytics to measure traffic and understand how the site is used; Cloudflare, as the host, may record standard server logs (such as IP addresses) under its own policies.
2. "My Musicals" (optional sign-in)
If you use the My Musicals feature, you need to sign in — either with a Google account or by entering your email and a 6-digit code we send you. We then collect and store:
- your basic account details — email address, display name and avatar. With Google these come from Google OAuth; with the email code we only have your email address, the display name is one you choose, and there is no avatar. Your avatar is shown only to you (in your signed-in navigation menu and account settings) — never on your public page or anywhere visible to others;
- the show records you add yourself (title, theatre, date, rating/notes — whatever you enter).
- your username and display name: the username is the address of your public page (
my.themusicalmap.com/yourname). Your collection is private by default — nobody can see it until you turn “public sharing” on. Once it is on, visitors see the show, theatre, city, date, rating and favourites; price and seat each have their own switch, both off by default, and your notes are never made public.
This data is stored in Supabase (a Postgres database) and protected with Row-Level Security, so only you can access your own records. We never sell or trade your personal data.
We may occasionally email you about major new features or service changes that affect your account; every such email includes a way to unsubscribe, and you can also opt out by writing to us. Beyond that, we never use your email for third-party advertising, and never share it with anyone.
3. Cookies and local storage
After you sign in, Supabase keeps your session in cookies / browser local storage. Google Analytics sets analytics cookies to distinguish visitors (anonymous traffic measurement, not advertising). This site itself places no advertising cookies.
4. Ticket links and affiliates
Ticket links on the map lead to third-party ticketing platforms (such as Ticketmaster or ATG). Some may be affiliate links — when you click or buy, this site may earn a small commission through affiliate networks (currently Impact and Sovrn), at no extra cost to you. After you click, the ticketing platform or network may set cookies in your browser under its own policies; their data practices are governed by their own privacy policies and are outside our control.
5. Third parties
Ticketing sites, official theatre sites and other pages you reach from here each have their own privacy policies and terms. This site is not responsible for third-party content or data practices.
6. Your rights
You can edit or delete individual records in My Musicals at any time. In Account settings you can change your username and display name, switch public sharing on or off, and delete your whole account yourself (all records go with it; this cannot be undone). If you signed in with Google you can also revoke this site’s access in your Google account settings. Any questions, email contact@themusicalmap.com.
7. Children
This site is not directed at minors and does not knowingly collect children’s personal data.
8. Changes
This policy may be updated from time to time; changes are reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
